Repair Case Study

LEICESTER LE1 4BX

Car make: Audi

Car model: Q3

Year: 2014

Problem:

The owner of the vehicle called us concerned with a loud and prominent noise from the front of the vehicle when driving. As this vehicle was used daily for commuting to and from work and social use for the whole family, the customer no longer felt it was in a safe condition to do so.

Solution:

After speaking at length with the customer regarding his concerns, we established that the vehicle was not in a safe and roadworthy condition to be driven down to us. We arranged the recovery of the vehicle and it was brought to the garage.

Just by driving the vehicle into the workshop we heard the noise and knew that recovery of the vehicle was the only option. Once on the ramp, it was clear that the passenger’s side front lower suspension arm bush was excessively deteriorated, allowing excessive movement of the suspension arm, resulting in the noise present in the vehicle.

Whilst the vehicle was on the ramp, we carried out a full health check of the vehicle and identified that the driver’s front lower suspension arm bush has deteriorated, and if left would eventually become the same as the passenger’s side.

Our recommendation was to replace both driver and passenger’s side suspension arm bushes and then to carry out wheel alignment adjustment to ensure the performance, handling, safety and correct tyre wear of the vehicle is maintained. Once authorisation was granted by the customers and the repairs were carried out and the vehicle was handed back to the customer the same day.

Customer feedback:

UNR automotive were recommended to me by a work colleague. I was looking for a main dealer alternative but without the prices. The staff at UNR Automotive offered me that and gave a personal service. Images of the defective part were emailed over to me prior to the repairs and the old parts were shown to me when I collected the car. I would happily recommend them to friends and family.
